At the Gym – Lesson 1

  • Students are logged in and join “Group Play” session
  • bench height is correct and foot support if needed.

Using Group Play, open “At the Gym – Part 1” from the library. Assign beginning students parts 1 & 2, Intermediate students can play parts 3 & 4, and advanced students should play parts 5 & 6. Repeat multiple times. If students feel comfortable have them switch parts and play a couple more times.

Puzzle Game

Students race to earn stars on the minced slicing of  “Classical Showdown 1”. Each time a student earns a gold star in the slicing, they will ring their bell and put a puzzle piece in. If the class finishes the puzzle before the time is up, they can work on a second puzzle. 

Congratulate the students on how many stars they earned at the end of this activity!

Classical Showdown (m 1-16 Handel)

As individuals, students will work on the minced slicing, covering the first 16 measures of classical showdown. 

 

Personalized Instruction

While students are working independently, take 2-3 minutes to assist each student with any questions or items that you notice, such as posture, fingering, hand position or struggles with notes and rhythms. 

Play Music

Group Play

As a group, play the first 16 measures of “Classical Showdown.” Repeat multiple times to get the students comfortable with the song’s sound. 

SASR/Clean Up

10 min

This lesson focuses on the method, the sight-reading challenge, and getting a benchmark SASR test. Having this test at the beginning of the year will make it easy to see how sight-reading has improved through out the year.
